Producing his own music for the last 10 years, Todd Mattei has played with Chicago bands like Joan of Arc, Male, and Friend/Enemy, to name a few. His first release with Felix Onyx was Datasleep, which was eclectic in its electronic experimentation, ranged between ambient soundscapes and pulsing, rhythmic tracks. His second release with Felix Onyx, Hold You, is more unified in its sound and feeling. The sound is more spacious and the tempos  more consistent. For Mattei, each song represents a place, a mental or emotional place, a location to be embodied by the listener. There are beats sometimes, field recorded samples, and melodies set at a slight distance, which make for a soothing yet stimulating ride.
